Ontology is the study of being, specifically what it means to exist and what existing entities have in common. When setting out to compose this work, I was absorbed in thoughts about identity and self, and how so often we can end up living our lives for the feelings and desires of others rather than ourselves. This piece is an exploration of identity and the quest for authentic self-expression. I sought to capture the complexities of self-discovery through a tapestry of sounds and a narrative form that lends itself to portraying the growth and acceptance I long to see in the world. Additionally, I composed a simple poem encapsulating my thoughts on the matter to be used as text in the piece.
