Certain Fluctuations - solo vibraphone

Certain Fluctuations is a process-based composition. I started with a four-note chord (a suspended C chord) and then created a formula for each voice of the chord to follow. Each of these formulae involved a specific sequence of rhythmic values for each note to execute followed by two specific intervals by which each note could move, either up or down. I created several different algorithms, testing each one out to determine if I was happy with it, and would then make tweaks here and there to adjust the "program" to my liking. After allowing each program to run for a time I deemed satisfactory, the piece was finished. The result is a meditative piece comprised of slowly morphing textures and harmonies.
